Future proofing aluminium operations with latest tech
» FENSTER FABRICATIONS LTD HAS purchased two Kombimatec double mitre saws to help grow their trade custom and future-proof the business . Installed in its fabrication unit in Torquay , the new Kombimatec DGS560 large capacity electronic double mitre saw will help meet demand for larger , custom-sized windows and doors . A second Kombimatec saw , the DGS536 electronic double mitre saw ( 3 axis ), provides flexibility with cutting angles from 22.5 and 135 degrees .
The new Kombimatec saws will ensure Fenster achieve high precision cutting with accuracy , saving time and money and helping the company meet the demands of the aluminium market .
James Perry , Business Development Manager at Fenster , said : “ We ’ re looking to grow the trade side of the business moving forward , and this investment will be of
great help . As profiles become wider we ’ re able to work with these without issue .
“ We ’ re able to integrate new technologies with these saws . Now we have a direct link from our production office to the saws , and bar length optimisation is taken care of automatically . This also ties in with a new barcoding system that allows us to track jobs during the production stages .” After reviewing the options it was Kombimatec , said James , who offered the best value for money for what was needed : “ They also gave us a good level of service and support – with a shout out to Dave in particular , who was great at guiding us through the process of replacements .”

Both new machines feature easy-to-use overhead touch screen controls , for safe and straightforward operation even by those with limited prior CNC experience . They are linked to the office software via Ethernet .

Rainwater Range EPD proves ongoing commitment to environmental performance

» SWISH BUILDING Products is delighted to announce that it has received a second independently verified Environmental Product Declaration ( EPD ), this time for its Kayflow rainwater and Swish specification rainwater ranges .
This EPD covers the full suite of rainwater products from Kayflow and demonstrates that quality does not have to be compromised for sustainability . Featuring a variety of styles , sizes and colours , the ranges are manufactured using post-consumer waste as the core material , combined with a virgin co-ex skin to provide the high-quality that customers have come to expect from Kayflow .

As a business , operating sustainably is at the forefront of everything that Swish does and this latest EPD reinforces its ongoing commitment to improving its environmental performance , as Dave Osborne , Technical Manager at Swish Building Products , explains :
“ Sustainability is not a concept we have adopted recently ; it has been a major driver of our business for a number of years and is at the heart of every decision we make , from product development , to manufacturing , to delivery , and beyond .”

To obtain this latest EPD , Swish once again approached the Building Research Establishment ( BRE ), whom they worked with previously . Whilst there is no obligation for manufacturers to provide EPDs , it is Swish ’ s continued commitment to sustainability that led them to pursue it and the company will continue to look to obtain further EPDs for its wider product ranges .
“ Both EPDs are a culmination of hard work and dedication from our team and demonstrate how seriously we take the collective industry obligation of working towards a net-zero carbon future ,” concludes Dave .
