Big commercial break
“ Like a lot of companies , when Covid hit in 2020 – everything changed , but after slowing down initially , we adjusted to the new way of life , and work . Then , we secured a commercial contract for 1000 + windows at a 684-bed student accommodation in Norwich ; working with McAleer & Rushe , one of the UK ’ s leading names in design and build .
“ This was a major milestone in our company history and something we ’ re very proud of . This project really was a product of everything we ’ d been working towards , through the years .
“ It comes down to our core values . And they don ’ t change whether you ’ re a retail customer , a trade customer or a commercial customer . You get the same level of service .”
Growing an online presence
“ We ’ re a company that has been established and operating for 30 years ; our factory manager has been with us for 20 years . We never outsource anything ; we do the product and the project from start to finish .
“ Really for us , there ’ s no such thing as ‘ supply only ’. The Norwich contract for example was ‘ supply only ’ but we remained on-hand throughout , ready to travel down and help with installation if required . By the time the building was complete , we ’ d been down around 10 times to consult and assist the fitting team .
“ With commercial , there ’ s new factors to get to grips with – dealing with quantity surveyors and site managers , there ’ s new demands and priorities , technical support , on-site visits . But we ’ ve been doing this for 30 years so it ’ s all a natural progression .
“ My dad still has a keen interest in the business ; coming in a couple a days a week . But other than that , everything lands on my desk now .
“ But we ’ re moving into a more modern era too . We have a bigger online presence now – one of my first priorities when I took over as MD was to revamp the website ; a six-month project . It ’ s essential to have that digital awareness now , a lot of companies in our industry are still behind in that regard . More than that , it helps gain enquiries too .
