Outstanding achievement nomination for Morley MD
» IAN SHORT , FOUNDER and managing director of Uni-Blinds ® integral blinds manufacturer Morley Glass , has been shortlisted for the ‘ outstanding achievement ’ award in this year ’ s GGP Installer Awards - at the Midland Hotel in Manchester on 14th March .
The ‘ outstanding achievement ’ shortlisting comes in the year that Morley Glass marks 20 years since it began producing integral blind units with ScreenLine ® systems inside . Over two decades the company has grown under Ian ’ s leadership to become a £ 30m turnover business employing 108 people and producing around 4,000 integral blind units every week .
In addition to being a driving force for the growth of the integral blinds market in the UK and working hard to help installers open up sales opportunities for these premium products , Ian has also pioneered a scheme to reduce the amount of post-consumer glass going to landfill . His widely acknowledged IGU ( insulating glass unit ) recycling initiative , developed in conjunction with Saint-Gobain Glass , has broken new ground by clearly demonstrating to the industry that the collection and re-manufacture of end-of-life double glazed units is not only viable but commercially advantageous .
