Delivery Service Keeps Problem Vans Off The Road
Figures released by Direct Line business insurance last month confirmed there are nearly 4.5 million vans on British roads , a record high since data started being collected in 1994 and representing a 37 percent increase in the last decade . With those vans responsible for the fastest growing source of CO₂ emitted from transport in Europe – accounting for 13 percent of road transport carbon pollution and creating 14 percent of nitrogen oxides ( NOx ) emissions in cities – we need to see a swift , significant move towards zero emission vans to meet Europe ’ s climate neutrality objective by 2050 .
These statistics , coming from Europe ’ s leading clean transport campaign group Transport & Energy are no shock to Northern Building Plastics , and as the largest stockists of cellular products in the UK , the company is giving its trade customers a reason to ditch the driving and utilise its impressive delivery fleet for a fast , planet-friendlier service instead .
NBP ’ s delivery fleet of 65 vehicles across four depots – based in Birtley , Hinckley , Bolton and Leeds – include specially-extended vehicles that can transport up to six metre lengths . This means its thousands of building products can be simply ordered online , any time up to 10pm , and delivered direct-to-site the next day . The speedy and seamless service is free , with no minimum order value , and means NBP ’ s customers save valuable time navigating traffic to get the materials they need , while also saving money on costly fuel and city transport schemes , negating the emissions they would otherwise create in their regular van drop-offs and pick-ups .
“ Our customers are as eco-conscious as we all need to be in 2023 , but they also need to get the job done , sometimes to tight deadlines ,” explains Stephen Jones , Sales Director of Northern Building Plastics .
“ That ’ s why our large fleet and next day delivery service has proven to be so valuable to our customers , who no longer add to the pollution problem by sitting in traffic for large portions of their days .”
It ’ s no wonder vans are hitting headlines as a thorn in the side of the global initiative to go green , emitting almost twice the nitrogen oxides of the average car , and NBP ’ s large fleet is keeping them off the road for unnecessary trips every day .
“ We now have 65 vehicles across our four depots , allowing us to provide customers with a rapid and reliable service . This means our customers don ’ t have to venture out in their van , as they can get their products delivered directly to site , which not only saves them time , but also helps cut down on emissions and saves on fuel .
“ We ’ ve also invested in some specially extended vehicles , which means we can securely transport up to six metre lengths .”
After opening its first depot in 2010 , NBP has successfully rolled out its super depot model , strategically placed to cover the whole of the North and the Midlands .
“ As well as the number of delivery vehicles we have , our rapid service is also down to the high levels of stock we keep at our four depots . We don ’ t have to order anything in before we ship because everything is already on the shelves , ready to be loaded onto our delivery trucks .
“ You can place an order on our website until 10pm , and because we have a team of warehouse staff who work through the night , we can ensure that customers get products delivered direct , the very next working day , for free . This is what sets us apart and helps our customers complete projects on schedule .”
