Jim , Tony and Jamie
When I asked Jamie to take me back to day one of Absolute Windows , he said he ’ s : “ only been there for 20 years !” but it was his dad Jim , and Tony that first set up the business in Bolton , fabricating uPVC windows . Since then , the company has grown to a team of 13 ( with two more on the way , which we ’ ll get to ), the business has moved from Bolton to Swinton , the product range has multiplied and then some , and a new system has been added to the portfolio . When Jim retired four years ago , Tony and Jamie took over the reins and with business currently “ flying ” in Jamie ’ s words , they certainly haven ’ t been going wrong themselves recently either .
Long-term team
During our phone call , Jamie modestly stated : “ there is one thing we do really well … Most of our staff have been here forever .” And , with that he went through names who have been at Absolute Window Co for 23 years , 22 years , 21 years and so on . He then went on to mention that on the rare occasion someone has left , they have soon come back , even after only a few weeks elsewhere . They even still have the same fitters on the fitting team from when they added the service to the business around five or six years ago . When we often report of skills shortages and difficulty in recruitment in this industry , even if it really was the “ one thing ” Jamie and Tony do well ( and it absolutely isn ’ t !), it ’ s an enviable trait to get right .
Range & region
When it comes to product range , Absolute continues to fabricate uPVC windows today . The profile of choice is Eurocell and the portfolio includes casement , flush sash and tilt & turn for a full range of options . Over the years , uPVC and composite entrance doors have been added to the gambit , alongside bifold and
sliding doors . Absolute also fabricates conservatories and supplies tiled roof systems for them . Covering East Lancashire and Manchester – plus a 50-mile radius of that region – Absolute ’ s reputation across the North West for ‘ price , quality and service ’ has not only kept momentum going for those products but – alongside changing consumer trends and tastes – motivated a move into aluminium as well …
