FROM THE EDITOR

Inside out industry

» AS I WRITE THIS MONTH ’ S INTRO , I am also packing my case ready for a day and night away for a work event . And , once I ’ m back from that , the case itself won ’ t be getting packed away for some time because October seems to be one of our busiest months for trips and visits in a long time .
From launch events to networking nights , weekend expos and editors ’ away days , activities , awards and trips abroad , as summer turned to autumn , our attention has been turned to catching up with customers old and new . And , just as the advent calendars are creeping into the supermarkets , we are checking our own calendars to start planning 2024 projects and campaigns . It will be annual prediction time before we know it . How did that happen ?
Anyone who thinks that the year is on the wind down is probably trying to wind you up ! I cannot remember a busier time for us , here at Clearview and you ’ ll know what I mean by the weight of the magazine you currently hold in your hands ; it ’ s the biggest I ’ ve worked on since I took on the role as editor ( second only to the September 2023 edition ).
As the events , expos and exhibitions continue to fill our pages – in their previews and reviews – we will never moan about how much of our time , as a team , they ’ re filling too . In the past couple of months , with so many dates in the diary , we ’ ve had to ‘ divide and conquer ’ to make sure we all manage to get to the places we need to be , even if we can ’ t go at the same time .
But , we ’ ll never complain . Firstly , it ’ s still not hard to forget that just three years ago , we didn ’ t know if a major event or conference would ever happen again . Would everything always be virtual ? Would we ever sit at a table of more than six people ? Would it be safe for a factory to open its doors to a group of outsiders ( even if they were industry insiders )?
But , more than that , at Clearview we believe that behind every page is a group of people . Our team here , the team behind the brand or business in the article or ad , and the most important team of all – you , the audience .
If we don ’ t know you , we don ’ t know what to put on those pages , which means the more of you we see and meet , the heavier this magazine will continue to become .
See you next week ( if not this month ), Gemma

The year of the PiGs

» 2023 SAW THE BIGGEST and best support for PiGs and 2024 looks like it ’ s going to be even bigger . With nine years of organising PiGs under her belt , Sarah Ball , Joint MD at full-service marketing agency Balls2 Marketing , says : “ The glazing industry is the best in the world because it ’ s so friendly . We come together from all corners of the country . In fact , the whole of the supply chain is represented , from system companies , fabricators and installers to componentry and specialist service providers - of all sizes .
“ In my wildest dreams , I couldn ’ t have predicted the continued success of the events . Today , PiGs is such an integral part of the events in the glazing calendar year .
“ After four events delivered in 2023 , Birmingham was the final PiGs networking meet-up and we ’ re already planning to deliver a spectacular tenth anniversary year in 2024 .
“ In the meantime , we will be busy with PiGs across LinkedIn , Facebook , Instagram and X , as well as our regular emails with event information .
“ The last thing to say for this year is a big thank you to everyone who has supported the PiGs events , from sponsors to those attending our networking evenings ,” adds Sarah . “ And , as ever , a huge thank you to the team at Balls2 Marketing who create and deliver all the PiGs marketing .”
