Golf Day raises thousands for Kelly ’ s Heroes charity
» THE GLAZERITE UK GROUP WELcomed the sunshine along with 136 guests to its annual Pro-Am golf day on Friday 7th July . The sweltering day at Wellingborough Golf Club didn ’ t put the fabricator ’ s guests off their game however , with the hotly-contested event also raising thousands of pounds for the Kelly ’ s Heroes charity .
A host of Glazerite customers , suppliers and employees joined in the event , now in its 17th year , which raised an incredible £ 12,000 for Kelly ’ s Heroes . The mental health charity , previously known as We Mind & Kelly Matters , was set up by former Glazerite Chairman John Hewitt following the death of his daughter in 2018 .
Winners on the day were Symphony Windows , with Mews Windows in second place . VEKA Plan UK finished in third , with VEKA Group owners Elke and Andreas Hartleif flying over from Germany to join their UK counterparts and Glazerite for the day . The event , which was praised by attendees as the best yet , saw 34 teams of 136 golfers take part as well as compete in
the ‘ Nearest the Pin ’ and ‘ Longest Drive ’ challenges .
Alongside Glazerite ’ s customers , suppliers including VEKA , Avantis , Brisant , Haffner and Masterframe took part , while DoorCo and Window Ware supported with sponsorship . Peter Mews of Mews Windows conducted the evening ’ s fundraising auction , which saw some incredible prizes , including a Tiger Woods Commemorative Plaque and an Ian Poulter Ryder Cup signed print up for grabs .
After the golf , guests joined Glazerite employees for a fun garden party , where Kelly ’ s Heroes CEO , Sherry Adams , was presented with the £ 12,000 cheque for the charity .
Sherry says of the event : “ Kelly ’ s Heroes was wonderfully supported by Glazerite throughout the day and our new logo was everywhere , from the golf balls to the advertising boards . Even Glazerite ’ s employees were wearing pink , which was Kelly ’ s favourite colour . The event will help us to continue to support those suffering with their mental health , as well as those affected by bereavement by suicide .”
The money raised will support Kelly ’ s Heroes ’ ‘ Listening Ear ’ initiative , which offers support from 6pm-9pm , 365 days a year , for anyone who needs help .

Rainbows Hospice Thanks Liniar For New Decking Area

Claire Sharpe , Purchasing Assistant from leading PVCu systems company Liniar , ran the London Marathon in October 2022 and raised over £ 10,500 for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People ( clocking a fantastic time in the process !)
When Rainbows ’ Corporate Partnership Fundraiser Kirsty Coxon asked Claire to visit the Loughborough-based hospice to find out how the funds would help to care for the hundreds of families whose lives are brightened by Rainbows each year , she jumped at the chance . During a tour of the purpose-built facilities , Kirsty

mentioned the volunteers who gave up their time to look after Rainbows ’ different garden areas , keeping them weedfree and wheelchair friendly for families of different ages to enjoy . Passing an unused muddy area , Kirsty commented that the hospice team would love to add some decking in the future to make it more attractive and useable – and Claire immediately thought of Liniar ’ s decking range .
The wheels were soon set in motion . The Liniar Outdoor team visited Rainbows to carry out a site survey and determine what was needed , then created a decking kit consisting of SwitchBoard Ultra PVCu composite deckboards and matching balustrade with

glass panels . To keep the whole installation rot-free , the decking would be installed on a Liniar aluminium sub-frame and a ramp added for access .
The work was carried out over a few days in April by volunteers from the Liniar Secondary Operations , Design and Technical teams and was completed in time for Rainbows ’ Open Day , where visitors found out more about

the unique , compassionate work the team at Rainbows do .
Liniar ’ s Group Finance Director Monika Bailey visited the Rainbows open day with her mother , saying , “ It was a very humbling day for both of us . The deck looks absolutely amazing and will make a massive difference to Rainbows . I ’ m very proud to be part of a team that is able to help make lives better in this way .”
