Renowned British journalist announced as guest speaker for Glazing Summit dinner

John McCarthey CBE , the distinguished British journalist , author and broadcaster , will be the guest speaker at the Glazing Summit ’ s Gala Dinner .
» IN APRIL 1986 , AS A YOUNG JOURnalist on his first foreign assignment for the United Press International Television News , John was snatched on the way to the airport just before he was about to fly back home and kidnapped by Islamic Jihad .
He became Britain ’ s longest-held hostage , being held in captivity for more than five years until his release on 8 August 1991 .
At this year ’ s Glazing Summit dinner , John will tell the dramatic story of his captivity in a dignified , self-deprecating and inspiring way that makes you understand how he came through five years of not knowing whether he would see another day .

Held in the Edgbaston Banqueting Suite , it brings together more than 200 of the industry ’ s senior leaders and features a champagne drinks ’ reception , three-course gala dinner , wine on the table and private bar .
