Upgraded bifold goes ‘ on trial ’

» SPECIALIST ALUMINIUM FABRICAtor CDW Systems is set to trial the AluK Luminia F82 slimline bi-fold door with the intention of adding it to its range .
The Gloucester-based CDW , part of the East Manor Group , has fabricated Aluk ’ s BSF70 bi-fold for many years and is looking to be able to offer customers an upgrade if they want it .
The Luminia F28 has been designed so the frame and cill have slim sightlines of just 97mm and to be thermally efficient , delivering an industry best 1.3 U-value with double glazing . It features a unique pop-out handle that sits flush within the frame and HD rollers which allow for smooth and seamless opening .
Jeremy Phillips , CDW Systems ’ Group Chairman , said : “ We have had enormous success with the BSF70 from Aluk but are looking at introducing the F28 due to its thermal properties . It ’ s a much more thermally efficient and modern bifold with better sightlines for uninterrupted views , which is what customers continue to want , and we are lining up training for that in the factory .
“ It won ’ t take over from the BSF70 , which we will still be offering , but we are trying to make sure we are prepared for 2025 and whatever that brings .
“ We also want to make sure we can offer our customers an upgrade if they want a more stylish , sleek , and high-end aluminium bi-fold door . There will certainly be a demand for it , and we are looking forward to seeing what our customers think .”

HELPING WITH BIG SCHOOL WINDOW PROJECT

» LEADING ALUMINIUM fabricator CDW Systems helped long standing customer Total Aluminium Systems with a school project that required more than 200 windows .
The Taunton-based installer and fabricator needed 207 windows for a refurbishment project at Wadham School in Crewkerne , Somerset .
With additional students and staff joining the school at the beginning of the academic year last September , the school decided on the programme to replace its windows , with Total Aluminium carrying out the installation while making sure they caused minimum disruption to students learning .
Total Aluminium Systems has worked with CDW Systems for more than five years and
buy windows , doors , bifolds , and commercial and residential doors – and for this project they chose Technal Dualframe windows .
Daniel Sparks , Total Aluminium Systems ’ Director said : “ We needed a durable , high use window for the Wadham refurbishment project and Dualframe was the perfect window solution .
“ The team at CDW were very helpful with advice and support on what window
profile to use to suit all our needs , with Dualframe being easy to fabricate and install . We had six months to complete the project and we had around 10 deliveries split into phases over three blocks , which CDW were a great help with .”
The family run company , which operates mainly in the South West , has more than 25 years ’ experience and predominantly works on commercial projects , carrying out installations for both new build and
refurbishment projects .
And , according to Daniel , CDW Systems has proved the perfect manufacturer and supplier : “ The relationship is good for us due to the reliability of CDW and their ability to supply larger quantities with decent lead times . We are a more compact fabricator and installer , so it works well .”
