Do not adjust your settings ?
Charity work proves commitment to being ‘ a part of something bigger ’
» WHEN YOUR COPY OF CLEARVIEW LANDED THIS MONTH , you may have done a double take . Did the designers forget to set the colours for the cover image ? Did the printers send it to the wrong machine ? Have we gone back in time when everything was black and white ? Rest assured it isn ’ t a mistake and now I ’ ll shed some light on this month ’ s monochromatic magazine …
Our friends at Morley Glass have launched a new line of black integral Venetian blinds inline with the changing trends of not just interior design but the shift from grey to black they ’ ve started to see in window and door frames . Fenestration might not be known for its fashion forecasting , and I ’ m certainly no Anna Wintour , but black blinds are certainly in vogue , and not just for this season .
In Morley Glass ’ MD , Ian Short ’ s words : “ In recent years the door and window industry has also evolved to better meet the demands of consumers . We ’ ve seen a shift away from a fairly limited range of styles available for windows and doors to a what is now a plethora of choices .”
So while you don ’ t have to ‘ adjust your sets ’ when viewing the all black cover , if you prefer your monthly dose of Clearview on a digital device , it ’ s clear that we are shifting towards a more openminded approach to what the customer wants and responding , rather than the consumer choosing from what we have available ; do you agree ?
Speaking of adjustment , the industry is still coming to terms ( or not as the case may be ) to last June ’ s building regulation and legislation revisions . We have contacted experts from across the industry to get their take on how fenestration has taken to the new Part L and F in the last eight months . Our second edition of Industry Issues follows up from July ’ s supplement ; giving fabricators , suppliers and experts on testing and certification a platform alongside trade bodies and organisations to inform , educate and advise . For me , no one seemed to sum it up better than Dean Bradley of Glazpart with his comment : “ Sometimes we have to do things differently .”
On that note , I ’ ll see you next month , same time , same place .

» EDGETECH , A QUANEX company , was happy to spread some festive cheer by supporting a series of charitable initiatives which aid both local and global communities .
Edgetech and Quanex are committed to championing education and the next generation . Therefore , they were delighted to donate school supplies to Walsgrave Academy , a Coventry primary school .
Edgetech is also passionate about helping to tackle hunger in the UK , especially in the current climate when people are struggling to afford basic necessities . Consequently , their generous staff contributed 197 items to Coventry Food Bank as part of a global food drive organised by Quanex . Each item was matched by a £ 5 donation by Quanex , totalling £ 985 .
The company delved into the holiday spirit by supporting the Samaritan ’ s Purse ’ s Operation Christmas Child campaign , which provides disadvantaged children with a box of gifts . Employees were given time off to volunteer at their local Operation Christmas Child processing centre , where they organised and packed gift boxes to be sent to recipients all around the world .
Edgetech has also continued their annual support for industry charity initiatives , including purchasing the Christmas Hope House Children ’ s Hospice print from GM Fundraising and donating to the present drive in aid of CATCH Leeds organised by NFA ’ s Lee Clarke .
Edgetech ’ s Head of Marketing Charlotte Hawkes comments : “ This year , Quanex launched a new initiative : ‘ a part of something bigger ’.
“ As a company , we know we ’ re part of a much bigger society and community . We are very cognisant of the fact that everything we do has an impact on thousands if not millions of people across the globe and we ’ re focused on making that impact a positive one .
“ As part of that , we ’ re committed to helping our local area , as well as worthwhile causes worldwide .
“ We hope these donations will bring some happiness and security to people who may be struggling during this especially challenging year .”
