Managing a Challenging Market
Ben Brocklesby , Director at Origin
Last year ’ s challenges , particularly the fluctuating economy , have significantly impacted the housing market . We ’ ve all seen the headlines of mortgage interest rates soaring , and people making the decision to stay put instead of moving . Alongside this , a rising cost of living is impacting homeowners ’ decisions and abilities to renovate .
» HOWEVER , IF THERE ’ S ONE THING that the pandemic highlighted to us , it ’ s that our homes have a significant impact on our mental and physical health . So , we still expect to see homeowners opting to enhance their homes in 2023 , particularly with ‘ quick win ’ upgrades that have an instant impact on a property , such as a new front door or internal doors .
At Origin , our priority is our Partners , ensuring they have all the tools they need to make that all important sale when talking to a new customer . This starts with our stellar product line-up . We are constantly adding to and updating the Origin Home Range to ensure we maintain our market-leading position . For example , in January , we extended our OI-30 Internal Door colour offering from black , to now be available in all 150 plus RAL colours to provide a broader choice to homeowners . Further to this , our R & D department is busy designing the next generation of Origin products ahead of the Future Home Standard ( 2025 ), ensuring we maintain the sleek aesthetic and regulation-beating thermal efficiency homeowners love us for .
Alongside a reliable product range , Origin is synonymous with the gold standard of service it offers to its Partners . They have exclusive access to our innovative ordering and quoting system ,
Origin Sale Safe ( OSS ), which allows them to quote entire projects and share it with the customer in just five minutes . In 2023 , this software will receive significant upgrades . This includes wider options available to order directly through OSS and additional functionality , such as being able to automatically add margins onto the cost of a project . This will save our Partners valuable time on admin , meaning they can spend more focusing on new business . This level of accuracy and efficiency gives our Partners the edge over the competition .
Not only does Origin make the ordering process easy for our Partners , but delivery is seamless too . We work to our Partners lead times , not our own . This means we can have popular products delivered within as little as 24 hours , or Partners tell us their install date and we take care of the rest , ensuring their products are delivered to the site on the day they need them . We can facilitate this because we take care of everything in-house . Origin products
are made bespoke at our factory in High Wycombe and are delivered in Origin vans by our team of dedicated drivers . This means our Partners are never let down by long lead times , so they can effectively manage their diaries and can capitalise on last-minute jobs when a homeowner has been let down by someone else .
2023 will present its challenges to the fenestration industry . We ’ ve been dealing with issues of one kind or another since Brexit , but we ’ ve always found a way through and we ’ re optimistic that this will be no different in 2023 . Our priority is ensuring our Partners ’ businesses continue to find success , despite homeowners reassessing their priorities . Our service will ensure that Partners have the tools they need to make a sale , and we will continue to add to our service offering and upgrade our products to maintain this support to demonstrate real value .
