2023
A YEAR OF OPPORTUNITY
Angela Griffin , Head of Marketing for Tyman UK and Ireland , looks ahead to the opportunities that 2023 presents :
With the private housing RMI market forecast to decline in 2023 due to the ongoing cost of living crisis and inflation , we have planned for an initial decrease in consumer sales . However , we are not expecting this to continue for an extended timeframe , and we believe this period will provide both ourselves and the wider industry with an opportunity to drive real innovation , both in terms of new product development and sustainability .
By working in partnership with our fabrication partners to identify their customers ’ specific requirements , together we will be in a prime position to successfully fulfil consumer demand as it increases throughout the second half of the year .
This not only relates to traditional mechanical hardware , but the continued demand for smart technology , as homeowners increasingly look to automate their daily routines . Drawing on our 180 years of design and manufacturing experience , in addition to the support of Tyman UK and Ireland , we are well placed to aid window and door manufacturers in both of these areas throughout 2023 .
With the guidance of our in-house engineering experts , in addition to the services of our UKAS accredited test house , we can provide window and door manufacturers with bespoke and standard

’ products that set the standards for security , whilst meeting upcoming regulatory changes , such as the pending PAS 24:2022 updates .
The next few months also provide us , the entire industry , with a crucial and necessary opportunity to enhance the sustainability of our operations to support improvements throughout every aspect of the supply chain . Whilst product innovation must be driven by customer use , we also have a responsibility to lead the development of solutions that prioritise environmental efficiency .
As part of Tyman UK and Ireland ’ s three strategic pillars : Focus , Define , Grow , we are committed to achieving year-onyear improvement in revenue of products with demonstrable sustainability benefits in line with one or more of the United Nations Sustainability Goals . This not only relates to our own products , but those of our fabrication partners .
Building on the work we achieved throughout 2022 , we will also be continuing to assist window and door manufacturers in identifying and realising their own sustainability objectives , including complying with the Plastic Packaging Tax ( PPT ) that came into place in April 2022 , in addition to Extended Producer Responsibility ( EPR ), which is due to be enforced from 2024 .
Throughout 2023 , we will be working to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50 % by 2026 to achieve our goal of being carbon neutral by 2030 ( Scope 1 and 2 emissions ). By 2026 , we have also pledged to achieve 100 % sustainable packaging and generate zero avoidable waste to landfill .
