Future gazing to 2023 and beyond

The fenestration industry has had to deal with its fair share of challenges over the past few years , and 2023 looks like it will be no different . Between supply chain troubles , material shortages , and changing building regulations , the market is in a constant state of fluctuation . However , despite these twists and turns , Origin was up for the challenge in 2022 and this will continue into 2023 .
With the ongoing cost of living crisis , homeowners will be looking for ways they can improve the thermal efficiency of their properties to bring down the cost of their energy bills . We know that windows and doors are the main ‘ escape routes ’ for heat , so upgrading these areas of the home will be a priority .
To provide our Partners with a seamless service , we are constantly making improvements to Origin ’ s already revolutionary ordering and quoting system , OSS . The software makes it easy for our Partners to quote a job , allowing them to do so in just five minutes . Plus , Partners can easily make adjustments to their order at any stage , no matter if it is a change across the whole project or on just one individual product . Seconds after making changes , a revised price will be generated which can be immediately communicated to the customer .
In 2023 , the functionality of OSS will improve even further so that our Partners can automatically add their margins to the cost of a project , saving them time and the headache of admin . There will also be more functionality available on OSS , making it even easier for our Partners to quote even the most intricate of jobs online .
Elsewhere , we are making additional upgrades to our internal processes to create an even slicker service for our Partners to ensure they never miss an install day or face delays . At Origin , we pride ourselves on our short lead times of just 24 hours , and our promise to our Partners that we will deliver their products to them on-site whenever they need them .
Last year , we embarked on the ambitious task of automating the majority of our in-house processes to realise a ‘ one-click ’ vision . This means that when an order is placed , aluminium profile stock is automatically deducted and re-ordered to replenish the warehouse , a work order is generated , the line is supplied and our delivery team is notified , all without human involvement . This was a huge undertaking , but using data in this way means that we are confident that we offer the best service to our Partners of any manufacturer in the industry .
We can maintain our short lead times when much of the industry cannot because of the significant investment we have made to bolster Origin ’ s supply chain . For example , we have a 55,000sqft warehouse facility stockpiled with aluminium profile to ensure manufacturing is not disrupted by materials shortages . This means our Partners continue to receive their products on time , in full .
2023 will also bring product design changes for us at Origin . The Future Homes Standard is due to come into effect in 2025 , with the aim that the
more stringent building regulations will mean that any new home built will be carbon neutral . To maintain our position as a leading manufacturer , our in-house R & D department will be working hard to redesign parts of our products to ensure that Origin continues to meet , and exceed , these building regulations .
This is no mean feat . Origin has five different product systems to redesign , and our ethos of innovation means that we won ’ t be taking the easy way to make upgrades ; we ’ ll be ensuring that any changes to our products don ’ t impact the look and feel we know homeowners love us for .
Overall , 2022 has been a challenging year for the fenestration industry , but we ’ re not one to shy away from a challenge . We have launched new products and welcomed new Partners onboard . We ’ re up for the battle that 2023 is sure to bring , and we ’ ll be supporting our Partners every step of the way throughout the journey .
