DECADE OF DEDICATED SERVICE
» EDGETECH , A QUANEX company , is celebrating not one but two milestones in Europe as the German facility passes a decade of manufacturing .
The celebrated firm has had a presence in the European market since the 1990s , and a UK site since 2007 , but it was a decade ago that it cut the ribbon on its very first German manufacturing facility .
Based in Heinsberg , North Rhine-Westphalia , close to the Dutch border , the state-of-theart location produces millions of metres of spacer every year .
Chris Alderson , Managing Director of Edgetech Europe explains : “ Establishing a permanent base in mainland
Europe was a hugely important step for us , and a key part of our plans for bringing outstanding warm-edge technology to customers around the world .
“ Particularly through the often difficult economic conditions our sector has experienced since the start of the pandemic , the capacity our German facility provides has proved vital . I want to pay tribute to the skill and professionalism of our German employees , and am confident we ’ ll go on to achieve even greater things together in the coming months and years .”

Moving On Up
» MANAGERS AT Oakland Glass have always been eager to push themselves forward , but without any formal training ; MD Amanda Falsey organised a leadership training programme .
Amanda explained : “ When we considered choosing the right training programme , we wanted it to be held in-house , be practical and based around Oakland Glass and what we face on a day to day basis and last but not least , to promote consistency in people ’ s skills .
“ The managers from different departments may have different daily tasks but we can all develop our core values and understanding as to what they mean as members of the Oakland team .
“ The programme also included setting goals and expectations ; how to motivate , inspire , engage ; staff ; understanding how teams work and getting the best from them ; performance management and appraisals ; one-to-one mentoring / coaching .
“ It has been great for us all to work together and see all the managers engaging and enthusiastic for meeting these values . Each manager has come back to the session with examples of how they have successfully implemented the training .”

Spacer Bar Company of the Year nomination
» EDGETECH , A QUANEX COMPANY , is celebrating after being shortlisted for one of glass and glazing ’ s most sought-after accolades . The long-established firm has been named as a finalist in the Spacer Bar Company of the Year category at the National Fenestration Awards .
Held annually , the National Fenestration Awards is the UK ’ s only democratic award scheme , inviting the public to vote for the best British glazing has to offer . It makes being nominated for or winning an NFA especially appreciated , as Edgetech Managing Director Chris Alderson comments :
