FROM THE EDITOR INDUSTRY NEWS

Extra , extra – read all about it .

» AUGUST CLEARVIEW ALWAYS FEELS EXTRA SPECIAL WHEN we put it together . Across industry insider magazines ( even outside of fenestration ), it can be common practice to publish a two-in-one summer issue that spans both July and August . Two months is a long time in any sector , however , especially in fenestration . In fact , we have had so much to talk about recently that – at Clearview HQ – even two magazines were not enough for the summer period …
‘ Less is more ’ isn ’ t really in my personal vocabulary . It never has been . A month ‘ off ’ from fenestration , therefore , wouldn ’ t sit right from me , especially when there ’ s so much going on . Outside of the sector , there ’ s been lots of ‘ extra ’ going on , so the twelfth magazine we publish in August , and that extra supplement you received with your July issue on New Building Regs : Part F and Part L seems quite fitting .
Since the last edition of Clearview landed on your desks and doormats , we have had a few extra degrees on the thermometer – as the UK broke its own record for the hottest day of the year on 19th July – and , as I type this intro today , we ’ re currently down to the last two candidates of the next PM , an ‘ extra ’ one thrown in part-way through another one ’ s unfinished term .
At Clearview HQ , the extra August issue does much more than bridge the gap between July and September . As well as keeping our audience abreast of all the industry insight and business news that ’ s taking place over summer , we also have a few extra features thrown in ; the annual Colour and Heritage features , which really drill down into doors and open up the wider world of windows ; exploring the opportunities available into the application and specification of something that was once quite specialist in amongst the white and grey but are now not-so-niche . Outdoor Living and Garden Rooms began a few years ago as a sort of trial , but since lockdown when the work-from-home , workoutfrom-home , do-everything-else-from-home movement really took off ; the homeowners ’ need for extra space has turned into a very lucrative market for so many in fenestration . Last but by no means least , 2022 ’ s third quarterly Aluminium Extra , which really needs no introduction , and again , what once was seen as a more specialist domestic or commercial-centric system is now mainstream , every day , commonplace .
On top of all of the above , our recently-refreshed social media channels are allowing extra time for me and everyone else at Clearview to connect with our customers – and theirs – in between issues and all on the important topics as and when they arise . Plus we have the August issue of Pro Installer to print and publish .
See you in September , Gemma
