New Slimline Bifold Door lets glass take centre-stage

» EPWIN WINDOW Systems has further expanded its aluminium system portfolio with the launch of its new Stellar Aluminium Slimline Bifold Door . By design , the Stellar Slimline Aluminium Bifold Door is 20 % slimmer than the original Stellar Bifold and delivers superior slim sightlines at every level . At just 117mm wide , the slim meeting stiles create an attractive sightline in the closed position , letting the glass take centre stage for maximum customer appeal .
As you would expect from a Stellar product , the intelligent design protocols and patented features are evident throughout the door . This includes patented pre-gasketed knock-in beads that make glazing the Stellar Slimline Bifold Door straightforward . And because the beads are
pre-gasketed , they leave a neat , clean gasket line on the inside for exceptional aesthetics while preventing gasket overstretch , which can be common on aluminium bifold installations .
The new Stellar Slimline Bifold also benefits from tailed glazing gaskets and an underglass seal which breaks up the cavities behind and under the glass to enhance the thermal performance . And installation
is further improved due to the unique patent-pending adjustable locking stile , so the clearance between the lock and keep can be adjusted to take up cutting tolerances , eliminating the need for adjustable door jambs .
Booth , Design Director ( aluminium ) at Epwin Window Systems , said : “ The new Stellar Slimline Bifold delivers slim profiles and is packed with unique features to give our
customers a competitive edge in the crowded aluminium bifold market . A door that was designed in Britain for British homes . It ’ s a powerful proposition .”
Its future-proofed design delivers excellent thermal efficiency and its innovative polyamide thermal break technology delivers low thermal conductivity and ensures this high-quality door is also highly insulating . It also exceeds the requirements of the 2022 Part L Building Regulations achieving a U-value of 1.3W / m ² K with standard 28mm double glazing and 0.9W / m ² K with 44mm triple glazing . The system is also PAS24:2016 accredited with a Secure by Design option too .

SOLE SUPPLY DEAL AGREED AFTER INCREASE IN DEMAND

» JOHN FREDERICKS PLASTICS HAS agreed a partnership deal with Reynaers Aluminium to become their sole supplier of aluminium windows and doors , following an increase in demand from its customers for high quality engineered aluminium doors systems .
The partnership comes after a year of discussions between the two companies and substantial investment by John Fredericks in a new factory and recruitment of staff dedicated to manufacturing their new aluminium products . The new site is a stone ’ s throw from their existing Huddersfield site which manufactures a range of PVC window and door products .
Mark Dicconson , Managing Director of John Fredericks Plastics , said : “ We ’ ve been around for 52 years and , although we did historically manufacture aluminium , we switched to PVC . Over the past couple
of years , we ’ ve seen our customer ’ s interest in aluminium grow substantially , partly as a result of the many Grand Designtype TV programmes that highlight the use of it in residential projects .
“ Over the past year , we found a second factory site about a mile from our PVC factory , and recruited staff with a background in aluminium manufacturing , and invested in top quality state of the art machinery . We ’ ve also installed the ReynaPro software so we ’ re able to start production straight away .
“ Initially we will be fabricating two of Reynaers most popular patio doors - the Concept Patio 130 Lift and Slide system and Concept Folding 68 Bifold Door . We will expand the range of aluminium products to include windows soon , so customers can enjoy a wide choice of high quality , performance products . My plan is that our aluminium will grow to represent around a third of our PVC business .”
Terry Ledwith , head of trade and retail sales at Reynaers has been coordinating the partnership discussions and supporting John Fredericks throughout the onboarding process . He said : The cost and availability of resin is having a significant impact on the price of PVC and closing the price-gap between PVC and aluminium .”
