» ECHOING THE ETHOS OF THE new brand identity , the new Distinction Doors brochure acknowledges how the business has solidified its position as a premium composite door supplier . The new brochure has been designed to enhance the consumer experience . This comes after independent research revealed that the company ’ s sales tools must increasingly work for customers of Distinction Doors , their customers and end-users .
Bethaney Larkman , marketing manager for Distinction Doors explains further : “ Factors such as design and packaging are vital elements in the buying psychology of premium products so it ’ s essential that we arm our fabrication customers and their customers with the right tools .
“ We have switched to a larger , reader friendly A4 format . It has been printed using vegetable-based ink on uncoated FSC certified and carbon balanced paper for a premium look and finish . We have also been selective in our choice of printer to minimise the environmental impact of our printed literature .”
The content emphasises the heritage and quality associated with a Distinction Doors product . There ’ s a brief guide to composite doors before consumers begin their journey of discovery . Starting with the bespoke paint range , readers are advised on colour trends and options .
The door ranges are then broken down into three sections – nxt-gen , Signature
and Contemporary . As there are 300 + door styles to choose from , consumers are directed to the full door range , expressed in a table on pages 60-61 or to view online using the company ’ s most valued and wellused tool - the door-designer configurator . This too is being updated and will be re-released very soon .
Decorative glass and glazing options feature throughout . For inspiration , alternatives are presented for each door style . Once again , consumers are directed to the online door-designer for the complete range of glass .
The brochure also highlights key benefits including Secured by Design ( SBD ) approval of the 44.5mm nxt-gen and Signature door ranges . Distinction Doors was the first and remains the only stockist and distributor of GRP composite door blanks in the UK to be granted prestigious SBD status .

Townhouse development – with a twist – in Sheffield
» OVER 100 OPTIMA WINDOWS AND doors were manufactured and installed in a sustainable townhouse development that offers a contemporary twist on Victorian terraced housing .
Sky-House is a development of designled , eco-friendly townhouses in Fox Valley near Sheffield . The two , three storey buildings consist of 27 one bedroom and six two-bedroom apartments .
The specification was exacting , with luxurious design elements and bright and airy interiors thanks to full-height double-glazed doors and windows throughout .
The contract to fulfil the window and door specification was given to Kingfisher Windows using the Optima PVC-U Flush Casement Window System from Epwin Window Systems . As an experienced commercial contractor , Kingfisher Windows is familiar with the exacting requirements of new build developments .
The Optima Flush Casement Window System from Epwin Window Systems was perfect for this development . It replicates the original features of timber casement windows more accurately than rival products . It also gives superior thermal performance which was important on this product to meet the exacting specifications for the eco-friendly development .
It meets the requirements of UK and EU Building Regulations as standard and includes a Secured by Design option . It also features optimised drainage and perfectly positioned seals for long-lasting performance .
The project has a stunning location with extensive views across the valley . To maintain the level of performance required on such an exposed site , fixings , transoms and mullions used additional reinforcing to meet more stringent wind and barrier loads . Enhanced glass was also specified to meet the barrier load to satisfy the requirements of BS 6180 , barriers in and about buildings .
The windows were manufactured in anthracite grey 7016 smooth on white to offer a contemporary exterior and understated interior .
