FROM THE EDITOR

How can I putt this nicely ?

» I AM THE OPPOSITE OF A SPORTS enthusiast . If asked , what sports do I enjoy watching , my only response is the sports I enjoy napping to ( tennis and cricket , if you ’ re wondering ). The reason for this is that – for me , at least – nothing at all seems to happen or change from the time I fall asleep to the time I wake up , and nothing helps me drift off better than the thwack of a tennis ball or ‘ leather on willow ’, alongside regular , polite applause . For this reason , a Golf Day – with zero chance of a snooze – is pretty much my worst nightmare .
Good job then my colleagues did such a great job of organising the first ever Clearview and Pro Installer Golf Day , and I have to say , although I won ’ t be rushing to buy my own clubs any time soon , I had a ball too . While the full review will be published in July ’ s magazine , I couldn ’ t resist mentioning the event in my letter this month . 17 teams of four playing 18 holes at Hickleton Golf Club , just outside of Doncaster , plus extra competitions throughout the day , a delicious dinner ( well-deserved steak pie , chips and peas for the golfers ) plus raffle and auction – and the whole thing in aid of GM Fundraising ; well-known in fenestration . Thanks again Gary for supporting the day and coming along to the event .
I won ’ t give the game away too much , in terms of the competition winners and the official total raised ( but we were staggered to say the least ). Thank you so much to everyone who came along , joined in , donated prizes , sponsored the holes , bid in the auction and the list goes on .
Clearview Group first had the idea for a Golf Day a few years ago , but for obvious reasons it couldn ’ t go ahead ; just like FIT Show . And , just like FIT Show , when we finally got the chance to make it into a reality , it did not disappoint . In fact , the first installment of Clearview ’ s two-part FIT Show 2022 Review starts this month , and for anyone who missed it ; there ’ s plenty from organisers and exhibitors to get you up-to-speed .
With all that excitement in May , it ’ s hard to know what to look forward to in June ; I ’ ve heard there ’ s some Gran Prix , tennis , cricket and football coming up , but I can ’ t promise I ’ ll stay awake for it .
See you next time , Gemma
