Annual Predictions

Strong brand , secure supply

WOLFGANG GORNER , MANAGING DIRECTOR OF HÖRMANN UK
» LOOKING BACK AT 2021 there ’ s no doubt it was a funny old year . A year which saw us coping with the continuing challenges and uncertainties posed by the Covid pandemic , combined with a time of unprecedented demand and full order books . We also saw end consumers with money to spend and keen to carry out improvements to their properties , more often than not choosing high value products that offered them that something extra .
At Hörmann UK we start 2022 in a positive position , and I am pleased to say that our order books remain full , with demand for garage and entrance doors continuing to be strong . Even though the supply-chain issues that many of us faced last year look set to continue , we are fortunate being part of a multi-national group which has put in place steps to mitigate delays where-ever possible and guarantees us a stable platform on which to supply our customers in the UK .
However , with domestic bills set to rise further and
the increase in national insurance due in April , I do expect more challenging times ahead . Inevitably , there will be a contraction in the market , with some end consumers holding back on their purchasing decisions - nevertheless I believe that the trend for consumers to be more discerning in their choices will persist .
As we move into this phase , working with a supplier who has a strong brand presence and who can offer high-performance , high-quality products together with the ability to meet demand will be crucial . At Hörmann this is our commitment as we continue to work with our dealers and customers to provide them with products and services that set them apart in the market – the Hörmann Difference . From the introduction of our fitter friendly RollMatic T roller garage door to the launch of initiatives such as our Partner Standard scheme and online dealer finder , Hörmann will remain a major , steadfast partner for those operating in the home improvement and construction markets .

‘ Making sure we are at the front of the queue ’

With a healthy order book going into the New Year , we are expecting 2022 to throw up plenty of opportunities for us .
JEREMY PHILLIPS , GROUP CHAIRMAN , CDW SYSTEMS
» WE BARELY SCRATCHED the surface with products such as the Alitherm Heritage Range , the Aliver Rooflight system and Designer Doors last year , and they really took off , so we are expecting increased demand for them this year .
Of course , the industry is a very different animal to how it was a few years ago and it will be interesting to see what things will be like when people start to go on holiday and the cost of living rises , which is bound to affect order volumes .
With the government spending a lot on infrastructure , however , we expect to benefit from that , so if domestic does fall back then commercial will pick up any shortfall . Having that flexibility between the two puts us in a solid position for the year ahead .
With supply chain problems looking set to be with us for a while yet , prices may continue to increase . We all tend to see price rises as a negative but it ’ s not always the case as it adds value . Prices increasing is no bad thing provided you can keep pace with them , however there is a limit and we may well be fast approaching it .
Making sure we are at the front of the queue and setting realistic expectations for customers will be the name of the game again .
It will certainly be another interesting year .
