While they undoubtedly look fantastic , they must be supported correctly and with other solid roof systems , installers must source bespoke steel goalposts ( at great cost ), install them , and try to maintain a pleasing aesthetic . With Ultraroof this problem is eradicated , as spans of doors up to 4m wide can be accommodated without the need for a steel goalpost , thanks to Ultraroof ’ s strong box beam .
4 . Number four made us smile , as it confirmed the result of some consumer market research that we carried out back in 2019 – that homeowners prefer Ultraroof ’ s good looks . Of course , homeowners want a solid roof that will perform and offer safety and function for many years , but aesthetics are also a key factor in their choice and Ultraroof is the one they prefer . For our installer customers , the fact that Ultraroof not only performs exceptionally but also looks beautiful makes it easier for them to secure sales , time and again .
5 . Finally , coming in at number five is another huge benefit linked to Ultraroof ’ s lightweight nature , and that is that fitters can use it atop of existing frames with confidence . Conservatory roof replacements are a huge market right now , but many homeowners are working to a budget , and so retaining existing frames can save them a huge amount of money . Some other systems are substantially heavier than Ultraroof and so retaining existing windows and doors which may not be reinforced is simply not an option . Once the project has to include new windows and doors , they are often way over budget and lose the job . Due to Ultraroof being the lightest solid roof on the market , existing frames can often be retained – saving money for the homeowner ( which often ensures that the fitter wins the job ) and hassle for the fitter – and again , allowing the fitter to move onto their next job faster .
It was fascinating to get this insight from our customers about the reasons why they love working with Ultraroof so much . As I mentioned earlier , in 2019 we carried out independent research with a sample group of homeowners to find out which tiled roof they preferred the look of . It was fantastic to have our belief that Ultraroof is the most attractive tiled roof on the market confirmed by the consumers who loved its appearance so much during our research , with eight out of ten preferring Ultraroof when compared with leading competitor brands . While we had designed the roof to not only perform exceptionally , but also to look beautiful , it was fantastic to have this confirmed .
The research found that when consumers choose a tiled roof , as well as considering the aesthetic and thermal benefits , they want to feel that they are choosing something which is more like an extension , rather than a conservatory . Unlike its competitors , Ultraroof is not based on conservatory roofing technology and its 380mm box beam means that no matter what the style or shape , Ultraroof will never need a tie bar – ever – which was a massive plus point to the homeowners involved in the research .
They were also impressed with Ultraroof ’ s unique internal pelmet . This not only creates a spacious vaulted feel but also provides the perfect space to house speakers or downlighting . An extended soffit option further adds to the extension-like feel of the system , providing the perfect spot for lighting to be positioned on the exterior of the roof . The homeowners also loved Ultraroof ’ s slimline hips and tile finishes and all of these features combined saw it crowned as the consumer-preferred tiled roof .
Carrying out this recent trade market research has been extremely interesting . Ultraroof has so many benefits that it was difficult to gauge which our customers valued the most , but the five benefits explained earlier were clear leaders in our survey results . Of course , at Ultraframe innovation never stands still , and so if we were to repeat this survey in a few years ’ time , there may well be new features and benefits that make the top five – watch this space .”
