FENSA OFFERS FREE PAS 2030 TRAINING TO BECOME A GREEN HOMES GRANT APPROVED INSTALLER

» FENSA , IN PARTNERSHIP with Trade Engine , is offering a limited number of free PAS 2030 training for installers looking to become approved suppliers for the Green Homes Grant Scheme .
There is a total of 50 places available and FENSA Approved installers should apply for PAS 2030 training and assistance with Trade Engine before Friday 14th May 2021 to see if they are eligible . In addition , Trade Engine can provide £ 750 of Government funding towards certification costs with FENSA .
The Green Homes Grant scheme , a £ 2bn initiative by government to improve energy efficiency in UK homes – including upgrading doors and windows – has been extended
until the end of March 2022 . Homeowners can claim vouchers to cover up to two thirds of the costs of qualifying energy efficiency improvements , up to a limit of £ 5,000 ( or 100 % of the costs up to £ 10,000 for eligible households on low incomes ).
In addition to funding one primary measure ( insulation or low carbon heat ), the grant can be used to fund , for example , new double or triple glazing or secondary glazing , and new energy efficient doors . In order to qualify for the grant , homeowners must ensure the work is
undertaken by TrustMarkapproved installers holding the relevant PAS 2030 standard to install energy efficient measures .
Which is why , as a boost for its members , FENSA , the government-authorised competent person ’ s scheme monitoring regulation compliance for replacement windows and doors , is offering free PAS 2030 training to the first 50 FENSAapproved installers to apply before the May deadline .
“ PAS 2030 is the specification required by Government for Installation companies to comply
with under the Green Homes Grant Scheme and potentially for future government schemes for energy efficiency ,” said Chris Beedel , FENSA ’ s Head of Membership . “ So free training is not just a great opportunity to take advantage of the Green Homes Grant scheme , it ’ s a chance for our installers to consider whether they wish to become more involved in this and future Government schemes .”
The training will be delivered by Trade Engine , which has supported businesses in construction , energy efficiency and domestic retrofit with their Quality Management requirements for eight years .

On-Site Security a Police Priority

» EVEN PRIOR TO THE COVID-19 crisis construction site theft was an ongoing problem that blighted the UK construction industry , with the industry suffering estimated losses of around £ 800 million a year .
The impact of these losses - due to crimes such as theft , criminal damage , arson and anti social behaviour - are not only limited to the stolen or damaged equipment or property , but also have significant additional consequences , very often affecting even completion dates . Overall development costs also rise due to project delays , the need for equipment to be repaired or replaced , and higher insurance premiums .
Secured by Design ( SBD ), has issued a new guide for Construction Site Security with assistance from the Metropolitan Police Service ( MPS ), Police Scotland , the Considerate Constructors Scheme , the London Fire Brigade ( LFB ), the National Business Crime Centre , Sold Secure , the Centre for the Protection of National
Infrastructure ( CPNI ) and the National Police Chiefs Council ( NPCC ).
Stuart Ward , National Designing Out Crime Manager at Police Scotland , said : “ Crime affecting the Construction Industry is known to have a negative impact on the ability of contractors to meet “ on time and within budget delivery ” of development work . Throughout the UK the use of this guide and implementation of its recommendations where appropriate will significantly reduce the cost of crime both in terms of finance and reputation . The guide can be used as an excellent start point for security measures to be applied , and further advice can be sought from the local Police Designing Out Crime Officers , who can also assist in providing supplementary support .”
PC James Smith from the Metropolitan Police Service , said : “ This guidance has been produced with the construction industry and the problems they face firmly in mind . With the amount of construction work happening across the country , it is important that crime prevention advice be freely available to all tradespeople to help protect construction sites and equipment . I think this guidance will go some way to assisting the industry , and helping improve security on building sites .”
The guide can be downloaded for free from the SBD website : https :// www . securedbydesign . com / images / CONSTRUCTION _ SITE _ SECURITY _ GUIDE _ A4 _ 8pp . pdf
