» TOTAL PEOPLE launched its £ 1m in 100 days campaign during National Apprenticeship Week ( 3-9 February 2020 ) and called on large employers to gift unspent levy funds for SME growth . Although the campaign was paused in March due to the pandemic , employers have continued to work with Total People to gift unused apprenticeship levy for SMEs to access to boost skills among their own employees .

This fantastic amount will now be allocated to boost apprenticeships across the following sectors :

• Automotive and Electrical

• Childcare and Education

• Coaching and Mentoring

• Construction

• Health , Social Care and Dental

• Human Resources , Learning and Development

• Management and Leadership

• Project Management , Business Admin and Customer Service .

London bus operator , Metroline , was one of the first employers to join the campaign and gifted an incredible £ 200,000 to be used for Automotive and Electrical apprenticeships .

Stephen Harris , Managing Director , said : “ Since Brunel and the Victorians the UK has always been at the forefront in delivering engineering expertise and innovation . Metroline has a proud tradition of providing awardwinning and industry-leading apprenticeships and we are pleased we can assist in this way .

“ Resources for this area of training are desperately needed in this country , and diverting our unused levy funding benefits similar businesses that understand the value of delivering apprenticeships .”

Levy paying employers are those with a wage bill of over

£ 3m and see 0.5 per cent of their payroll go to HMRC towards the levy . In April 2019 , the Government made it possible for levy paying employers to ‘ gift ’ up to 25 per cent of their apprenticeship levy to other organisations to fund apprenticeships .
