Successful year for specialist supplier
Despite launching just months before a global pandemic and a national lockdown , for aluminium door supplier 6 Day Doors , the past 12 months couldn ’ t have gone better . Here , Managing Director Sunny Singh shares why …
» FOR ANY COMPANY THAT STARTED up just before the global pandemic , there was always going to be a huge risk . No one could have predicted that by March , businesses across the country would be forced to close their doors . And sadly , many haven ’ t survived the economic upheaval brought on by the national lockdown .
But for 6 Day Doors , a new specialist supplier of aluminium bi-folds and patio doors , the past 12 months couldn ’ t have gone better .
The new fabricator was launched at the beginning of 2020 , and is the latest venture from Essex-based construction powerhouse the Chigwell Group , who also own Chigwell Window Centre , Chigwell Construction , and Chigwell Heating .
Along with all other businesses , the company was forced to shut down in March , just a few short months after they launched .
But since then , business has been booming , and 6 Day Doors went on to launch two outstanding aluminium products – the Ezifold bi-fold door and the Cortizo Cor Vision Plus slimline patio door .
Managing Director Sunny Singh comments : “ We launched 6 Day Doors early in 2020 just before the arrival of Covid-19 , not the best time to start a new company you might think , but despite all the pandemic has thrown at us , the home improvement sector generally has enjoyed an incredible period of growth which I think will continue .
“ This is due to the fact that we have all had to spend more time living and working in our homes , so it comes as no surprise that we want them to be as comfortable and functional as possible .
“ On the top of most people ’ s wish list has been more space , and building an extension is usually the easiest way to achieve this .
“ This is where 6 Day Doors has really benefitted . Our Ezifold bi-fold door and sliding patio door range have been in high demand from builders and installers as they
continue to be their customers ’ ‘ must have ’ extension accessory , and we expect this trend to continue .”
GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY
And it ’ s not just high-quality aluminium products that 6 Day Doors has been busy with .
As part of the Chigwell Group , the company has been dedicated to helping out during the pandemic , even delivering supplies to NHS workers , and providing food parcels to the elderly .
For many years , they have been longstanding supporters of Haven House , a charity that supports children in the London and Essex areas who are seriously ill and have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions – In August , they helped the charity raise over £ 35,000 with a sponsored 7-day , 300km walk from John O ’ Groats to Land ’ s End .
The company also sponsors the annual Havering Half Marathon , Havering Mind ’ s Christmas Land , which raises thousands of pounds for the mental health charity , and helps to fund Hammersmith and Fulham ’ s
Big Christmas Day Lunch for isolated elderly people .
“ While we ’ re very proud of what the business has achieved , despite the difficult economic climate , it ’ s always important to remember the community we serve and do our bit to help where we can ,” says Sunny .
LOOKING TO THE FUTURE
With a successful 2020 under their belt , 6 Day Doors is expecting the boom in sales to continue , and have prepared accordingly .
“ We ’ ve recently invested in a 36,000 square foot factory in Basildon ,” says Sunny . “ This is set to open in March , and is expected to triple our production capacity . We ’ re also planning to buy in new machinery and new vehicles , and to take on more staff .
“ It ’ s been a difficult year for many industries , and so we ’ re incredibly lucky that 6 Day Doors , despite launching at the beginning of 2020 , has been such a success .
“ We ’ re excited to see what the future holds , and we ’ d like to thank our valued customers for their continued support .”
