DOORS & WINDOWS

THE IMPORTANCE OF WORKING TOGETHER AND GROWING TOGETHER

» BRINGING LAST YEAR ’ S informative ‘ Fireside Chat ’ series of videos to a close Freefoam have now released the final short film about how vertical integration has changed the building products market . Colin St John , Commercial Director , explains how Freefoam operate a traditional supply model , with manufacturer providing products to an independent local stockist or merchant and subsequent sales to a local installer customer base . He also illustrates the newer integrated supply model and discusses the challenges and control this can bring to stockists .
Aidan Harte , CEO summarises : “ This final video highlights an important issue - how a vertical integrated model can have significant detrimental implications for independent building product suppliers . Freefoam has taken a different approach to other roofline manufacturers who sought to take control of the supply chain . Instead , we focus on developing customer relationships and adapting our product range and service offering to help our customers sell more .”

Would you like cream with that ?

» CLOTTED CREAM R9 windows and doors from The Residence Collection , recently graced a beautiful project in a Staffordshire conservation area , much to the delight of the homeowners .
A Grained White internal finish was specified to keep things neutral , featuring polished chrome pear drop handles and black butt hinges . The front elevation of the house also featured Georgian bars to the windows , in keeping with the requirements from the local planning officer .
Sarah Hitchings , sales and marketing director of The Residence Collection commented : “ This is yet another wonderful example of our windows and doors gracing properties in conservation areas . Planners love the windows as do the homeowners who enjoy them and with the many benefits over timber , including better energy efficiency , sound insulation and the fact that they require little maintenance .
“ Beautiful homes warrant beautiful windows and R9 remains the only true timber casement alternative window on the market . Our manufacturing partners enjoy the margin they provide , as do our installation partners across the UK .”

REMOTE SELLING KEEPS HOME IMPROVEMENT BRAND BUSY

» KESTREL HOME IMPROVEMENTS says the Framepoint ® sales and quoting app helped the company ‘ embrace ’ remote selling , and kept the order books full since . “ It ’ s proved very successful ,” says Mark Ramsey , Managing Director . “ We sold 12 jobs over lockdown and 30 jobs immediately afterwards , all using Framepoint ®. Our order books have been full ever since – it paid for itself with the first job . The biggest problem when selling windows is helping customers visualise styles and what the windows will look like in situ – and this solves that problem easily . When a potential customer makes an enquiry we ask them to provide images of their home and we then ‘ make over ’ their property live online . It never fails to impress .”
Kestrel HI is based in Kent , with three installation teams . It sells windows , doors and conservatories in PVC-U , aluminium and timber , as well as guttering and roofline . Previously , the company ’ s reps sold face-to-face , sketching ideas on paper with homeowners and using a well-known industry software system . The team switched to Framepoint ® because it provided so much more detail . www . tommytrinder . com
