PREPARED FOR BOOMING 2021

» FOR A COMPANY THAT WAS launched at the beginning of this year , 6 Day Doors , a specialist supplier of aluminium bi-folds and patio doors , has had a hugely successful 2020 .
Since opening , the company , which is the latest venture from Essex-based construction powerhouse the Chigwell Group , has launched two outstanding aluminium products – Ezifold bi-fold doors and the Cortizo Cor Vision Plus slimline patio door – which have both seen a huge success , despite the restrictions brought on by a national lockdown .
Managing Director Sunny Singh comments : “ We launched 6 Day Doors early in 2020 just before the arrival of Covid-19 , not the best time to start a new company you might think , but despite all the pandemic has thrown at us , the home improvement sector generally has enjoyed an incredible period of growth which I think will continue into 2021 .
“ This is due to the fact that we have all had to spend more time living and working in our homes , so it comes as no surprise that we want them to be as comfortable and functional as possible .
“ On the top of most peoples ’ wish list has been more space , and building an extension is usually the easiest way to achieve this .
“ This is where 6 Day Doors has really benefitted . Our Ezifold bi-fold door and sliding patio door range have been in high demand from builders and installers as they continue to be their customers ’ ‘ must have ’ extension accessory , and we expect this trend to continue into 2021 .”
As the new year approaches , Sunny is confident that this boom will continue – and has invested accordingly .
“ We ’ ll be opening a new 36,000 square foot factory in Basildon in March , which is expected to triple our production capacity ,” he says . “ We also plan to buy in new machinery and new vehicles , and to hire more staff .
“ The way things are going , I predict 2021 will see continued success . Demand for high-quality aluminium products hasn ’ t slowed down , and we ’ re prepared for that .
“ We ’ d like to thank all our valued customers for their continued support through 2020 , and we look forward to working with them in the new year .”

» DESPITE THE MASSIVE disruption caused by coronavirus , the window industry came back strongly after lockdown .
Now , as 2020 comes to a close , the question many in our industry are asking is ‘ how long will this last ?’
Is it a temporary phenomenon that will start to tail off in the early part of 2021 ? Or does it reflect a permanent shift in consumer behaviour ?
Personally , I think the best way of understanding it is as an acceleration of a trend that had already been picking up pace for years now .
Once , people looked at windows , doors and other home improvement products in mostly practical terms – they wanted

something that was affordable , and that worked .
Since the turn of the millennium , driven in part by the rise of aspirational TV shows like Channel 4 ’ s Grand Designs , that ’ s changed – and now people are much more discerning .
They want quality products that reflect their own sense of style , and the look and feel of their homes and the surrounding areas .
In my view , coronavirus is only going to reinforce that trend . Even when the pandemic is over , I suspect that many more of us will be working from home than ever before – which is only going to increase demand for garden offices , loft conversions , rear extensions , and , more generally ,

home environments that are just pleasant to spend time in .
