FIRESAFETY&SECURITY A compliant concept for fire and security Concept Doors have achieved dual certification compliance for both fire and security on their SBD recognised Concept Secure Internal Timber doorset. Concept Doors Ltd Pre-Hung Timber Door-Sets » LEE HARRIS, CONCEPT DOORS, said: “We are so pleased to now have this accreditation in place. It is our aim to provide products to the best of our ability with safety and security being our goal. Now having the dual certification in place, shows we are doing our upmost to do this.” SBD Development Officer Lyn Poole said: “It’s great news that Concept Doors now have a dual certified Timber door range. Dual certified means that it is third party certificated to enhanced security (PAS 24:2016) and Fire rating FD30 and FD60 depending on leaf material and some ironmongery. All internal corridor flat entrance doorsets should be dual certificated for peace of mind.” You can find out more about the company and their range dual certified doorset here: https://www.securedbydesign.com/membercompanies/sbd-members?view=companydet ail&account=0011i00000JpvnCAAR Concept Secure Internal Timber doorsets provide peace of mind that the people, property and assets within the building are protected from opportunist thieves, vandalism, attack, fire and smoke. In order to achieve independent, thirdparty certification, Concept submitted sample doorsets for testing to a UKAS accredited testing facility, with the tests conducted demonstrating the doorsets ability to resist fire for at least 30 or 60 minutes, as well as an intruder’s attempts to use stealth to gain entry to PAS 24 test standards. Concept Doors was founded in 2003 as a supplier of pre-hung doorsets to the construction industry. The company’s innovative and dynamic approach to the business has since seen year on year growth with Concept Doors supplying over 40,000 doorsets to a variety of different clients and projects in 2012. SBD is part of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (PCPI), a police owned organisation that works on behalf of the Police Service to deliver a wide range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives across the UK. PCPI is a notfor-profit organisation and Board Members include senior police officers from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who control and direct the work PCPI carries out on behalf of the Police Service. SBD plays a significant crime prevention role in the planning process to design out crime in a wide range of building sectors. It has achieved some significant success including one million homes built to SBD standards with reductions in crime of up to 87%. SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and the Police Service through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies to ensure that their publicly available standards actually meet the needs of the police and public alike. Products must be subject to rigorous testing and additionally be fully certificated by an independent, third-party certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) before being allowed to carry the SBD logo - this is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK. Third-party certification ensures doors not only meet stringent security standards, but continue to be manufactured to a consistent quality through regular audit checks. www.conceptdoors.co.uk 44 » JUL 2020 » CLEARVIEW-UK.COM
