INDUSTRYNEWS ‘VBH supplied the 14 sets of gear ... from stock within 48 hours’ On call for Nightingale » WHEN MAJOR PVCU MANUFACTURER Nolan uPVC received an urgent order for 14 sets of emergency exit doors for the new Swansea Nightingale Hospital, they knew that they would be able to meet the deadline due to their close relationships with their suppliers, not least with hardware company VBH. VBH supplied the 14 sets of gear, comprising greenteQ Anti-Panic hardware and Sigma door hinges from stock within 48 hours. The order was shipped directly from the company’s Kent headquarters, which has remained open with a skeleton staff and reduced working days to provide products for emergency contracts such as this. Nolan were able to manufacture the doors and have them on site within a remarkable six days. The hospital has been constructed within the disused 11,000m² Swansea Bay Studios building and will initially provide beds for 500 COVID patients, with another 350 being added in the coming weeks. www.vbhgb.com PROUD PROJECT PARTNER OF OFFICIAL VE DAY 75 ALBUM » TO MARK THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY of Victory in Europe Day, SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is offering the Nation free copies of a souvenir coffee-table book entitled VE Day 75, published by the SJH Group – and Police Crime Prevention Initiatives are extremely proud to be a project partner of this official VE Day 75 commemorative album. Written by experts including the royal correspondent Robert Jobson, VE Day 75 is a beautifully presented publication that tells the in-depth story of Victory in Europe Day. Featuring a wide selection of photographs from the day itself, the book documents the extraordinary events of 8 May 1945, honours those involved and reflects on how this victory has impacted on British society – right up to the present day. Lieutenant General Sir Andrew Gregory, Chief Executive of SSAFA, says: “This could be the last time that we will be able to celebrate a major VE Day anniversary with those who lived during the conflict; we must learn from their victory, never forget their sacrifices and be proud of our Nation today. That is their legacy.” www.veday75.net Display it – don’t say it Work safety posters now available » WITH MANY BUSINESSES beginning a staged return to work across the industry, Epwin Window Systems has produced a series of work safety posters to help support their customers and the wider industry with both social distancing and health and safety reminders. Gerald Allen, Marketing Manager at Epwin Window Systems said: “With more of the industry reopening their businesses and faced with working in the ‘new normal’, the work safety posters offer a constant reminder to all personnel on the procedures they need to follow to keep themselves and others safe at this time. These messages include social distancing reminders, washing your hands and additional health and safety protocols. We launched the posters initially to support our customers but take up has been very strong across the wider industry and we are happy to support anyone who needs them at this time.” The series of thirteen posters are suitable for use throughout manufacturing and business premises and are available by emailing [email protected] CLEARVIEW-UK.COM » JUN 2020 » 5
