EDITORS NOTE I will never forget it. While sitting at a carpet cleaning convention dinner with my son, Tre and several industry big wigs, an industry magazine editor turned to Tre and I and said “Rob, we had a 3 page article set to go to press when it was suddenly pulled. Taken back we asked why? He said “because ya’ll have grown too fast and we don’t want our loyal readers to know about you. Right then and there I realized that we don’t get the truth we deserve from industry media. They only give us what they want us to know. We realized that money decided what was printed and we made a commitment to never let that happen to us. We are always hunting for the truth and ways to make our industry better. We are not always 100% on target but our zeal wins out in the end. Here is a classic point, I know when we found a major flaw in White Magics we were banned from magazine bulletin boards and magazine publications. Why? Because the manufacturers threatened them and they cowardly caved in stamping out free speech. This is sad and why we mentioned that TMF wants to offer a refreshing approach to the industry we love. This doesn’t mean that we are perfect but we try to get the info out as perfect as possible. At times we may need re-adjusting and welcome this. 6 Last issue we pointed out some major flaws in the schooling and certifying institution for the cleaning industry. We had a lot of facts correct. We made the point that there is a new team of leaders who are working to make changes. We received a letter and it pointed out where we were right and a few places we could make an adjustment. I really like the letter and the tone it took. This new group seems focused on not only solving the past abuses but moving forward to make this a great industry. We decided to publish the letter because we want to be fair even acknowledging if we had some areas that we needed adjustment on.
