CARPET REPAIR
2. Instead of doing a lot of work and spending a
lot of money on chemicals that may or may not
take out the odor, we simply remove the source
of the odor and it is then gone
• We do this by cutting out and removing the
damaged carpet
• We also cut out and remove the pad which
can hold a tremendous amount of urine
contamination and can be terribly difficult to
remove the odor from
• We can also have access to the subfloor which
can also have contamination
• Here we can clean this and then seal if off
with a pigmented shellac or similar product
to lock in the odor and put up a barrier to the
odor
3. Also, at times even if we can get the odor
acceptable for the consumer, there is also usually
stains that we simply cannot always remove
• So, instead of spending a lot of time and
expense on trying to remove staining, we
simply cut it out and it is gone alone with the
odors
This is a very reliable alternative to the
chemical approach. Would we do this all the
time? Of course not but for those times when it
makes sense and we may not be able to take care
of the odors and staining, this is a great tool to
have in your tools box.
There is great training available today to learn
how to do this. Do your research and learn from
someone who knows how to perform this type
of work and who can share with you the proper
procedures, proper tools and methods for another

“SKIN a CAT”
For those that may need some help with this
or who would like to see how one would section
out an area and replace the damaged carpet with
a new undamaged donor piece, here is a link to
show how this can be done. This also works on
just any type of stain or damage, even if it is not
pet damage from urine!
Here are a couple of photos showing a ‘Urine
Stain’ in carpet with severe staining that was
corrected by the process outlined above.

Here is a Urine Stained area that needed
to be repaired.
Here is the same area along a wall that a
cat continued to damage.
Here we have removed the damaged
area. While we did not need to replace
the pad at this time, while it was open
like this it would be a simple matter to
cut this out, seal the floor and install new
pad, if it was needed.
