magine you are headed to buy a power drill.
You find a no name, cheaply made drill on
sale for $49.95. This inexpensive drill will get
today’s job done, probably. One shelf over is
a professional quality brand name drill that
includes a 10 year warranty, It is built like a tank.
This drill sells for $99.95, twice the cost.
The husband with a weekend to-do list might
choose the cheaper drill. Which drill do you
think the professional carpenter would carry to
the checkout?
Now consider another situation. This time you
get to buy a new car. Choice A and Choice B are
both 4-door sedans and either would meet your
need to transport the family. However, Choice
B is more than $3,000 cheaper. It might seem to
be the smart choice. But if you took the time to
dig a little deeper, you would find that Choice A
has a 5-Star safety rating. Because of this is the
insurance is several hundred dollars a year less.
Also A gets 32 miles to the gallon and B gets
only 25. The $3,000 savings could be wiped out
in a couple of years when you factor in gas and
