National Seminar on Challenges Faced by the Forces Struggling to Change the Present System in India The Central Committee of CPI (ML) organized a seminar at Hyderabad on 9 and 10 th September 2018. It invited many left and communist parties to participate in the seminar and present their papers on the topic: “Challenges faced by the forces struggling to change the present system in India. Six organization namely CPI, MCPI(U), CPI(ML)-Red Star, CPI(ML)-ND, PCC-CPI(ML) and CPI(ML)-ND consented to participate in the seminar. The seminar was held at VST Function Hall and was attended by 300 delegates from AP, Telangana, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra and UP, Delhi. The seminar was conducted by a presidium with Comrades Aloke Mukherjee, Madhu and Suseelan as its members. The seminar paid revolutionary homage to all those martyrs who laid their lives for the cause of transforming the Indian society by observing one minute silence. In his welcome address Com. P.Jaswantha Rao extended revolutionary greetings to all the fraternal organizations and delegates. The CC of CPI(ML) took this initiative, he explained, to start a dialogue among all the forces that are struggling to change the present system so as to locate the challenges and problems faced by them and to find common ground to coordinate their efforts. With this aim the CC of CPI(ML) prepared the key note to facilitate the discussions in the seminar and asked the delegated to express their opinions freely and objectively. He concluded that this September - 2018 is only a beginning and these efforts should be continued in future in all possible ways to find the commonness. Com.Arvind Kumar Sinha presented the key note to the seminar on behalf of the CC of CPI(ML). He vividly explained the intractable crisis of capitalism and its degrading effects on the lives of the people both in India and the world. He explained the onslaught unleashed by the Indian ruling class on the people and growing fascist trends in the form of rabid Hindu communalism. Com. V.Ramanarasimha Rao presented the paper to the seminar on Behalf of Com. Surawaram Sudhakar Reddy, General Secretary, CPI as he could not attend the seminar. Com. MD. Ghouse. General Secretary of MCPI(U) presented their brief paper with sufficient explanation. (All the papers were published in this issue-Editor) Com. Y.Sambasiva Rao presented the paper on behalf of CC, CPI(ML)-ND. Com.S.Venkateswara Rao pre-sented the paper on Behalf of Com. Chandram, General Secretary, CPI(ML)-ND. The delegation of CPI(ML)- Red Star also attended the seminar with a paper. As the contents of the said paper are not relevant to the topic of the seminar, the presidium asked the leader of the delegation to speak on the subject. Com. Hariprasad read out some parts of that paper. Com.Dhruva Narayan, spoke on the topic on behalf of P.C.C.CPI(ML). He appreciated the initiative, theme of the seminar and suggested some issues for united action. Com. Nikhileswar, a well known revolutionary writer in his speech appreciated initiative taken by the organizers of the seminar and hoped such efforts would be continued in future to engage all the forces in the fight against the oppressive and exploitative policies of the ruling class. Com.D.Paparao, an intelle- ctual and democrat expressed that the seminar has to also focus on the neo-liberal economic policies which are playing havoc with lives of the people. Com. Harsh Thakar narrated some episodes in the history of communist movement and asked the delegates to discuss the way to come out the present situation. After the presentation of the papers by the participating organizations, question and answer session was conducted. The leaders of the delegation clarified and explained their stands. This session continued on the second day also. On the second day of seminar, 10 th September, many delegates expressed their opinions on the papers presented as well as on the problems faced by the movement. Com. Arvind Sinha in his concluding speech said that we made a humble beginning and the leaderships of the various organizations sit together to discuss the problems faced by the movement. This takes more time and need patience and dispassionate approach. He appealed to the organization to continue this effort. The seminar concluded with the singing of the ‘Internationale’. ™ 3
