A fascinating juxtaposition of youthful energy and vibrancy and an unknowing final musical statement, Northern Sinfonia members perform music from the student Britten and the experienced Britten. Colin Matthews, who was and is a great supporter of Britten and his music, features with his Oboe Quartet written for Nottingham University whilst Thomas MacMillan’ s‘ A Thousand Plateaus’ was created just this year as part of his studies at Newcastle University.
