Mini Party!

The Mini Cooper S is half a century old this year, which of course is a great excuse for a party! The Mini Cooper Register thought so too, and celebrated 50 years of the Cooper S at its annual rally in Beaulieu, Hampshire, on June 9th. Simon Hazeldine went along.

It’ s weird isn’ t it? Between 1959 and 2000, over 5.3 million Minis were built here in the UK, and not that long ago it seemed like there were more Minis on the roads than lampposts! Sadly, that is no longer the case, and the little British icon is becoming a rarer sight by the day. The value of these cars is also increasing rapidly.
