Max models . I completed those sets before the retros ever came out . I was collecting those , but they started falling apart , so I shifted gears to a different aspect of Nike . I started getting more and more into the runners and the roots of Nike .
It ’ s funny , because when I was collecting the early Nike Air models , I said to myself , “ Stay away from the runners . Don ’ t get into the apparel . Don ’ t get into it . It ’ s just going to wormhole into trying to get everything ,” and of course I bought one pair of early waffles in electric green and black , maybe ten years ago , and it was the worst purchase I ever made , because it turned into , “ I gotta get every runner from the 1970s and 80s .” That Waffle Racer in that green and black colorway was actually in my size . My intentions were to get them and wear them . When I got them , I thought they were the most beautiful shoe , in the most beautiful colorway . Then I thought that I had to have them all . I just completely caved with those waffle racers .
I started becoming friends with some of the older collectors who were really into the running shoes , and finding all these early SMU models in pink , magenta , and lime green . The models were all geared towards the Athletics West runners .
It ’ s just that collector mentality . I always collected things , and I always wanted to complete the set . I remember going out and buying 1984 Topps baseball cards . It was different back then . You didn ’ t just buy complete card sets . You bought packs and tried to complete the set . With comic books , I wanted the whole series , or all of The
