LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Volume 2 - The Collector’s Issue
The term “Sneaker Culture” is tossed around so much these days, that it’s
impossible to come up with one clear definition of what it actually means.
In fact, what I’ve learned during my years of experience in the industry, is
that it represents many different sub-groups and lifestyles, depending on
your age and geography.
For Classic Kicks Volume 2, I explored one of my favorite subjects: Vintage
Collectors. While much of today’s “Sneaker Culture” revolves around
manufactured hype and resale speculation, this hardcore group of purists
collect some of the most obscure items you’ve ever seen, because they
love the product, it’s place in sports history, and it’s connection to their
youth. This intention is what makes their collections truly priceless.
As you look through the pages of this magazine and feast your eyes on
the extremely rare, vintage items contained within its pages, take the time
to read some of the interviews and meet these unique personalities. Their
perspective might be the breath of fresh air you need right now.
Sincerely,
Nick Santora
