CLASSIC KICKS MAGAZINE VOLUME 1 | Page 3

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR Volume 1 - The Photographer ’ s Issue

Classic Kicks magazine has been a lifetime in the making that started when I was eight years old and decided to transform my bedroom into a sports shrine honoring my heroes .
During the 1980s we witnessed the groundbreaking intersection of sports , style , hip hop , and pop-culture . Our imaginations were captivated by visions of Michael Jordan and visible air bubbles . Yo ! MTV Raps was the most important show on television .
The decade that introduced us to the perfect combination of beautiful products , super-human athletes , and genius marketing campaigns , inspired so many of us to pursue careers in the sneaker industry . Everything we enjoy about current sneaker culture is deeply rooted in this time .
This magazine is a celebration of the outliers and innovators who ’ ve created their own genre by going beyond what anyone else imagined was possible . This issue is focused on the photographers who inspired cultural movements through their images of athletes and musicians .
Thank you to everyone who helped create the first volume of Classic Kicks magazine by contributing their time , photographs , and stories . I ’ m very thankful and proud to share these experiences with the world .
