Hay una traducción al castellano al final de la actividad. Author and educator, Sir Ken Robinson, challenges the way that we are educating our children. He advocates a radical rethink of our school systems in order to cultivate creativity and acknowledge multiple types of intelligence. We are going to use his TED TALK How to escape education’s death valley for this activity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX78iKhInsc Before watching the video students compare in groups their educational backgrounds. After watching the video students discuss in groups if they think that the educational system should be changed. Every group has a spokesperson who summarizes their conclusions. Students take turns talking in favour and against each principle from the video: – humans are naturally different and diverse – children are naturally curious – human life is inherently creative Students discuss these statements: * Children need a broad curriculum to develop and celebrate their various talents. * Our students have seeds of possibility waiting, which with the right conditions will flourish. Students write a review of the video as homework. They could watch the video with English subtitles at home if they wish so. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZghq9PCgLU&index=1&list=PLDIuxIBE8UTnjrX rTbrOsMkZreWY1tY1J By doing this activity students are expected to improve their listening and speaking abilities. When writing the review they will activate the vocabulary learnt from the video and bear in mind the models about reviews provided previously in class. Webpages :
