Culinary Arts Fundamentals
Location: Sonia Gutierrez Campus
This 10-month program provides a foundation for students interested in a career in the
culinary arts. Classes include theoretical instruction and hands-on practice in the School’s
teaching kitchen. Key principles include: sanitation and safety, knife skills, food prepara-
tion, and more. Our course prepares students to take the ServSafe®
certification exam.
Requirements:
- Eligible for ESL 6 or higher
- Advising session with the Culinary Arts Academy Director or designee
International Cuisines
Location: Sonia Gutierrez Campus
The five-month program offers various culinary historical perspectives and influential
contributions of different cultures with their corresponding cooking techniques, flavor
profiles, and local taste. Our hands-on class focuses on menu development, food prepara-
tion, and more.
Requirements:
- Eligible for ESL 6 or higher
- Successful completion of Fundamentals class or its equivalent
- Advising session with the Culinary Arts Academy Director or designee
Baking and Pastry
Location: Sonia Gutierrez Campus
Our five-month program provides a foundation for students interested in a career in the
baking industry. Our course combines theoretical instruction and hands-on practice. Key
principles include: introduction to baking equipment, methods of mixing, decoration,
dessert preparation, and more.
