Participation
In preparing students to thrive in a
work environment, class participation is
encouraged. It is a way for students to more
actively engage in their learning and goal
attainment. Attendance is very important
and students are expected to attend class
every day. Morning and afternoon classes are
offered Monday-Friday and evening classes
are Monday-Thursday.
Diversity
Cultural diversity is highlighted through a
variety of activities that foster learning about
the Arts and appreciation and respect for
different cultures. We host Hispanic Heritage,
Black History, and Asian Pacific Islander
festivals among others. Students celebrate
and explore one another’s cultures through
song, dance, poetry, skits, fashion shows and
more.
Our Students
Through the School’s programs, thousands of immigrant adults have obtained high school
diplomas, passed their citizenship exam and have become U.S. citizens. They have also
gained the language skills necessary to enter into careers, climb corporate ladders,
purchase homes, and obtain college degrees and workforce certifications. Through the
school’s programs, these immigrant students are able to contribute to Washington, D.C.’s
economy and community as a whole.
Student Facts
“Carlos Rosario is one of the most important
adult schools in the U.S. It has been helping
many people from many countries not just
improve their English skills but also to reach
their dreams. I am one of these people.”

Support Services
Adult learners often face challenges related
to health, labor rights, housing equity,
and more that interrupt their learning.
We have counselors and staff with a deep
understanding of the immigrant experience
who provide supports such as career and job
readiness advising, college bound guidance,
leadership development, mental health
counseling and case management that are
linguistically and culturally relevant.
