The Chicken House building has been around for almost two hundred years . The local St . Joe area country store occupied the building in the beginning . When the original bar and restaurant burned down , which was located across the road , the bar and restaurant moved to the Chicken House and replaced the little store . Only a few people have owned the Chicken House during the almost two-hundred-year period . The present owners purchased the restaurant in November of 2019 When the pandemic hit in 2020 , restaurants were only able to do carr out . So … the surrounding communities chose to support hometown businesses to help them survive . The owners will be forever grateful for this . They were able to start the remodel while still offering car ryout . People who had never been to the Chicken House were trying and the customer base started growing and growing . It ’ s hard to find a homemade country meal and the people loved it . Once the doors were open people started returning to inside dining They found a completely newly remodeled interior with some nice additions . The restaurant known mainly as a bar , was now a family friendly restaurant for all to enjoy . The bar was moved to the original location in the old building for those that enjoy the bar atmosphere . Even the kitchen was totally remodeled to include state of the art equipment . The Chicken House now has four private dining areas ( Grandma ’ s Kitchen , The Conference Room-downstairs and upstairs the Elegant Victorian Room and the Unique Western Room ). These are great venues for showers , family gatherings , business meetings , rehearsal dinners , and even weddings ( the restaurant has had two )! The owners recently added a huge awning over their park like patio which includes fans to keep customers cooler during warmer weathe They will also be adding sides on the awning so that it can be used most of the year plus heating for those that love the outdoors . A new parking lot should be coming soon , which will include a “ Carry Out ” area for customer convenience . In the kitchen you will see staff peeling potatoes and carrots , making our dressings hand breading our pork chops , mushrooms , pork tenderloins , and more , plus of course the fresh chicken that is delivered daily ( yes , da ly ). Staff members also make the delicious desserts ( Banana Puddin German Chocolate Cake , Cobblers and more ). Almost everything is homemade and not processed food . The Chicken House staff works very hard to make sure customers enjoy their visit . They are top notc people who really care about the customers . The Chicken House has fifty plus workers .
