To inform yourself further on this fascinating area head to the virtual
Museum of Soho where they have amassed an extensive library of Sohocentric books and attempt to bring history to life through talks and special
events.
Round the corner on Frith Street is the infamous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Café
which has earned itself this reputation for bringing the best of modern
jazz musicians to an intimate and welcoming environment, likes of Miles
Davis and Kurt Elling have graced the stage here, as well as the last live
performance of Jimi Hendrix.
If theatre is more your thing then you are spoilt for choice with the popular
Noel Coward’s Theatre and, the more high brow, Wyndham’s Theatre, as
well as many others, on your doorstep.
The Photographers’ Gallery is situated on Ramillies Street and is the largest
public gallery dedicated to photography in London, this is the place to
come to view photography in all its forms, spanning the latest emerging
talent, to historical archives and established artists.
Half way along the bustling North side of Piccadilly is the Royal Academy,
founded to promote the creation and appreciation of visional arts through
debate, exhibition and education, the gallery shows a variety of exhibitions
from all around the world throughout the year. These are often ‘landmark’
exhibitions of an artists work such as Monet or Hockney and are hugely
popular with the public. Accompanying these internationally acclaimed
exhibitions the academy provides a series of seminars and debates.
