Vote Yes on the Levy!
I am writing today to encourage the
citizens of Clarence to consider voting
"YES" on the library support levy on
November 5. Misinformation is really
the worst type of information, so I
would like to take this opportunity to
clarify the purpose and cost of this levy.
1) The support levy is not, in fact, the
library asking the tax payers to foot the
bill for a new library building. Very
much to the contrary. If we were to
rely solely on the revenue of this levy,
the library would have to save that
revenue for approximately 90 years
before construction could begin. I'm
eating my vegetables, but I just don't
think I'll be able to hang on that long.
The total revenue for the library from
this levy, per year, will total just a little
over $7000. That is a great way to
supplement the library's budget, but it's
not going to build a new building. If
passed, however, it IS a terrific way to

support the library with just a little
extra.
2) The support levy is simply that, a
way for the citizens of Clarence to give
a "thumb's up" to the efforts put forth
by the organizations making the library
a better place, including the Library
Board, the Building Committee, the
Friends of the Zybell Library and the
Library Fundraising Committee. If you
think the library does great things in
our community, for our kids, for our
seniors, for the community as a whole,
please vote "YES". Even if you don't
utilize the library yourself, do you feel a
library is a good thing for a community?
The groups involved with the library
are making great strides to construct
the new library with grants, fundraisers
and private donations, but we need to
know you support our efforts.
3) If passed, the levy would assess only
an average of $15 per home owner,

per year. For the cost of one carryout
pizza you can convey your support for
this excellent institution in our community.
4) Upon moving to Clarence, the first
places my husband and I interacted
with folks were the grocery store, the
post office and THE LIBRARY. Libraries attract young families, and nice libraries keep them coming back. Functional, efficient, modern libraries indicate progress. Visible, tangible progress attracts new residents, new home
buyers, new business and pride in one's
community. Use your vote to give a
'thumb's up' to the library!
A VOTE YES IS A POSITIVE VOTE
FOR THE FUTURE OF CLARENCE!
