Vernon Main Street Director CAEDG Makes Main Street Iowa Visits As a requirement, and benefit, to communities interested in submitting a Main Street application, visits to existing Main Street com- munities must be undertaken. The Clarence Area Economic Development Group has visited both Mount Vernon and Woodbine, with a driving tour of Highway 30, which included brief stops in three other Main Street communities. Main Street directors Joe Jen- nison and Deb Sprecker both shared lots of information and guidance to the Main Street investigation committee. Woodbine Main Street director Deb Sprecker shared a great deal of information on building before and after's in her community, the benefits of es- tablishing upper story housing and great tips for “life after the application process”. One of her key points was a study that shows for every hour a visitor drives to get to our community, we must provide three hours of entertainment.
