Andy King, Bristol Associate Professor of Knowledge Exchange, specialising in games technologies and innovation.
Where in Europe do you live?
project, the challenge of air quality in our cities has really been made clear to me.
What do you think needs to change in your city?
I work in Bristol and car share with 3 others to commute to work. I used to live in Bristol and transport is a big issue, from the safety of cyclists, availability of public transport in and out of the city, as well as pollution levels caused by traffic management. I hope Bristol will become the cleanest city in the UK, and the most forward thinking in terms of transport!
What is your role in ClairCity and what interests you in the project?
I will help mapping urban energy activities and air pollution sources in each city. I like the interdisciplinarity of the project: we touch upon social science, air pollution modelling, computer science, geography and energy planning.
What do you think needs to change in your city?
Copenhagen is very active in the sustainability arena and aspires to become CO 2 neutral by 2025. I hope that the entire transport in Copenhagen will move to bikes and electric / hydrogen buses and cars, so that noise and air pollution will be problems of the past.
I live in Radstock, a village around 25km from Bristol.
What is your current job, and what has been your career journey?
For the last 10 years I have been working in Games Technology and Creative Technologies at the University of the West of England in Bristol, UK( UWE Bristol). Before that, I was a game designer and composer.
What is your role in ClairCity and what interests you in the project?
I am lead designer on our ClairCity game. I am excited to build a game that is more than behaviour change or awareness raising. Ours will be driven by real issues that citizens and cities are facing. I’ ve worked as a designer on large games for big companies such as Sony, but none have provided the level of challenge that this game design has. Since we started the

Where in Europe do you live?
I live in Copenhagen area, Denmark. Originally, I come from Poznan, Poland.
What is your current job, and what has been your career journey?
I work at the Technical University of Denmark. Currently, I am a PhD student focusing on modelling and analysis of urban energy systems and sustainable cities.
ClairCity partners are based across ten European countries.
Our staff include game designers, sociologists, scientists, data analysts, policy specialists, communications experts, engineers, app developers, economists, geographers, civil servants and mathematicians.
By combining our efforts, we aim to address some of the multi-disciplinary problems that cities face.
