Clackmannanshire View - Winter 2016 Helping Everyone Stay Safe Recent events in Europe and beyond remind us how terrorism can strike at the heart of everyday life and have a devastating impact. The UK Government’s Counter Terrorism strategy Prevent is aimed at promoting community cohesion and preventing vulnerable individuals from falling prey to extremists with intent to radicalise them, and put them in harm’s way. Public authorities including the Council, have a number of statutory duties under Prevent. This includes a requirement to put in place various systems to protect and support individuals at risk of extremism, similar to those in place already to protect vulnerable children and adults. continue to be affected by sectarianism as well as other extreme forms of faith or racial intolerance.
