CA 3:Introdans:Hartslag
I went to Introdans: Hartslag in Zwolle, Odeon de spiegel on
the 12th of January. It is a ballet, with 4 parts. Love is central,
and quite important. The four parts where all different.
There was a break after the first 3 parts, and then we got a
long final after the break. I h ad never been to a ballet before,
I didn’t really have any expectations.
Research
The ballet consisted out of four parts. The first one is one is by
Coyetano Soto on Fugaz, on music written by . Georges
Ivanovitch Gurdjieff. Cayetano Soto wrote it as a tribute to his
father who passed away in 2005. There are some suprises in
there. Some of the dancers sat at the frontrow and just jumped up the stage after a while. He
himself said: “It’s the saddest piece I’ve ever done. It was the most painful ballet to do. Because I
wanted to be myself; I wanted to be honest. I didn’t want it to be black, white; pathetic, placative.
It’s the fact of people dying of cancer.”
His goal was to make people experience death and the emotions involved. “If you haven’t
experienced death first-hand, you don’t know this pain,” said Soto at the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet
studios, where he was teaching the company the dance, for four women and two men. “I didn’t
understand it until my father died. I don’t want to show it to you; you have to have an experience of
it.”
The second dance is made by the Spanish choreographer Nacho Duato and is called Por vos Muero. It
is written on old Spanish Music from the 15th and 16th century. There where openings in the wall at
the back of the stage, through which the dancers frequently dissappeared. They used masks during
the dance and gave it a twist in the direction of the Renaissance. And the end of the performance
they started using incense .
The third dance was also made by Nacho Duato. It is called Cor Perdut. It is a love duet on a bit
arabish background Music. It is about love and passion and is full of warmth. The dance is described
‘sensual and sanguine’ by reviewers.
The last dance was made by the
french choreographer Thierry
Mandalain and is called Bolero, and it
is supported by the Music with the
same famous name written by
Maurice Ravel. They placed four
corners on the stage, and made a
sort of ‘room’ on stage. In this room
