Community Comes Through for Jewish Family Services at Record-Breaking Live Laugh Give

On June 7 more than 300 guests“ laughed and gave” at Jewish Family Services( JFS) most successful Live Laugh Give comedy fundraising event to date. This year, honorees Lori and Eric Sklut were recognized for their many contributions to both the Jewish and greater Charlotte community. The event
welcomed headliner Tom Papa, who entertained the crowd with his one-liners and jokes.
Executive Director Howard Olshansky noted that evolving community needs and projected reductions in government support make private philanthropy more important than ever. Contributions through raffles, the live auction, and the Call to the Heart exceeded expectations.
“ We are deeply moved that, once again, our community opened its heart to help JFS secure the resources needed to support those who rely on us most,” said Howard Olshansky, JFS executive director. Since the inaugural Live Laugh Give event, JFS has expanded its reach by more than 60 %, broadening its impact across mental health, services for older adults, food and financial insecurity, and family support.
The evening also highlighted the breadth of support behind JFS. The organization thanked event co-chairs Kevin Levine and Louis Sinkoe for their leadership, along with the event’ s sponsors. Novant Health served as Presenting Sponsor, and Stuart and Teresa Singer were recognized as Headliner Sponsors. Guests enjoyed a sponsor reception and meet-and-greet with Tom Papa before the show and concluded the evening at a dessert reception underwritten by Pinnacle Financial Partners.
Live Laugh Give is one of several initiatives that help sustain JFS throughout the year. Together with the annual Family to Family Campaign and the generosity of individual donors, proceeds from the annual event support a wide range of services, including counseling, senior services, food assistance, case management and caregiver support.
For JFS, the record-breaking result was more than a fundraising milestone. It reflected a community’ s commitment to ensuring that individuals and families facing hardship have access to professional care, practical support and compassionate guidance.
