would survive into adulthood. Then only four years later in 1815, Lucretia’s father or James’ business partner, Thomas Coffin Jr. died. Lucretia’s mom, Anna Folgers, was left with much debt for her to pay off; along with her mother Lucretia and her husband were having some economic troubles also. Anna went back to shop keeping and Lucretia went back to teaching, as her husband established a business career at his uncle’s cotton mill, sold plows and became a bank clerk. After all of those jobs, James went into the wholesale business.
