Civil Insight: A Technical Magazine Volume 3 | Page 5

EDITORIAL Might you be skimming through the pages, with great delight, I present the third volume of the annual periodical, ‘Civil Insight: A Technical Magazine.’ A cherry on top is, bringing this magazine out as a meticulously upgraded, peer-reviewed ‘Journal’ status publication. With this year’s edition, I deem that a few voids vis-à-vis researches in the Department have been filled, and our collective learning curve is progressive. The magazine, even having its two editions already published, lacked a proper framework, definite article formats, and the working guidelines As a giant stride forward, the periodical, now, has its ‘Aim and Scope’ defined, the Author’s Guidelines formed, and the Article Submission Format of its own. Considering the reformation in the departmental structure, a part of the publisher’s name has been renamed to ‘Department of Civil Engineering.’ The periodical currently incorporates a separate ‘Journal Section’ along with other regular sections. Besides, the Civil Insight magazine-turned-journal takes pride in having its own dedicated Reviewer Panel, who are the experts in their respective fields. I, on behalf of the Editorial Board 2019, would like to take this opportunity to thank Associate Professor and the Head of Department, Dr. Prachand Man Pradhan, for instilling in us the idea of a journal. His personal guidance, efforts, and encouragement are the major reasons for the shape this technical piece has taken today. I am equally grateful to Dr. Eng. Suman Manandhar for his kind assistance and review for this periodical. I express my sincere gratitude to all the contributing authors for their timely submissions of their original research papers to this magazine. I strongly opine that the papers included will be very useful to the departmental undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, alumni, researchers, academicians, and professionals. I am highly indebted to the Sankalpa Committee members, fellow editorial members, KUCEC members, advertising sponsors, and everyone associated, who helped us directly or indirectly to publish this magazine. I am hopeful that Civil Insight will pave a way to create and contribute to the research environment in the Department. I foresee Civil Insight as the mirror of the innovative research and findings at the Department of Civil Engineering, Kathmandu University.
