It can be seen from the analyses that the total ultimate displacement has increased significantly in case of
spring-base modeling by 3% in the x-direction, as shown in Fig. 6, and by 4% in the y-direction, as shown
in Fig. 7 respectively. This can be explained by stiffness difference of building in both directions and plan
configuration which is longer in the y-direction. Kabtamu et al. (2018) has stated that there is a chance of
decrease in base shear for lightweight structure. However, an increase in roof displacement causes
detrimental effect on the structure. Therefore, the results of the analysis satisfies the results obtained by
Kabtamu et al. (2018).
